Yes, it is true that coffee grounds are now going to be used as fuel in powering cars. 10,000 espressos are going to power a car to run for a distance of 210 miles.

A BBC presenter is ready to drive the coffee fuelled car through the journey of  210 miles. The journey will begin from London and will end in Manchester as a test run for the experimental vehicle. The BBC1’s Bang Goes -The Theory is pursuing the test of the vehicle and the host of the show, Jem Stansfield, is the above said presenter who is going to run the coffee ground powered car through the long test.

The car is built by Stanfield to exhibit the fact that alternative energy sources can be harnessed to even make a car run for such a long distance. The car is made of scrapes and it has to get refuelled after every 40 miles to cover the 210 miles distance. The coffee grounds are converted into flammable gases in the vehicle’s ingenious system and thus providing the car’s engine fuel instead of the use of the conventional diesel or petrol.

With this ingenious experimental car and alternative energy source utilisation experiment, Stansfield aims at the youngsters to think and find out such new and alternative sources of energy as the old ones are exhaustive and not going to last forever. He wants the youngsters to think about how energy can be drawn from waste products and new sources.

Coffee is now going to give energy to both man and machine, this is the future.
