It is true my friend, the state Senator; Bill Perkins declared that the governor will not go for a reelection. David Paterson took the responsibility of the top job in New York in the spring of 2008. He took over the empty throne of Eliot Spitzer (D), the pervious governor who resigned due to being public of the fact that he took high priced hookers. Paterson's father was a player in democratic politics and a great state senator. he held his father's state senate seat and then got elected as the lieutenant Governor in 2006. Paterson's decision of not standing this fall for the election brought a sigh if relief from state and national Democrats as they openly fretted that his unpopularity would have been a great problem. The unpopularity of Paterson could have dragged down the entire tickets in the state. last fall also people tried to talk him out of the election. The decision owes to the recent controversy about his top aides and his low poll numbers last fall. It came up that the Governor has intervened in an assault case involving a top aide took up to be a controversy and further hampered his political career. Paterson's retirement made the Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, a very popular political leader in the state, eligible for the top spot of Governor. Andrew Cuomo also ran for governor in 2002 but he later dropped out as there was a likely defeat then for him. This time the former Rep. Rick Lazio is the likely Republican Nominee. Republicans have to defend 11open seats this fall. Time will tell about the future.
