China is all set to cover a great deal of their land with high-speed railway transport route by 2012. This would make the Chinese to build the world’s largest high speed railway transport system. By the end of 2012, the Chinese railway minister stated that the country’s high-speed railways lines would extend up to 13000 kilometres. Thus, it will form the world’s largest high-speed railway network. It will be operational as per the railway minister of china stated.
The Chinese railway minister Liu Zhijun stated that in next three to four years, their country, China, should have more than 26000 km land put into use. The railway minister of China issued this statement in the early January. Among these 26000 km of railway land use, 9200 km of land is mentioned to be put into use for the high-speed railway services.
Building so much of high-speed railway system and network is very costly. The government has to put in about 100 million Yuan to build only one kilometre of high-speed railway. Building 9200 km of high-speed railways network across China is surely an expensive deal and it would require more than about 900 billion Yuan of investment to bring this monster dream alive for the Chinese government and its people. It would be a very proud honour for the Chinese people to say their country has the world’s largest high-speed network and it is surely one of the most expensive pursuits.
China expects to have four east-west high-speed railway lines and four south-north lines after the expensive pursuit of high speed and normal railways network building is almost complete.
